I think my coop has mites. I have looked over each chicken and have done it at night too since everywhere says that is the easiest time to see them. Every time I have seen one mite on one chicken. But when I am standing in the coop i find them on my hands and phone. And today i finally saw some on the roost. Will poultry dust work? And manna pro poultry protector for actually spraying on the birds vents and legs? They haven’t been acting any different and i just started noticing them on me first about a week ago. :welcome :frow Permethrin works. Personally I would dust the birds with poultry dust containing permethrins and I would also spray inside their coop totally every crack and crevice, on and under the roosts and put some poultry dust in the nest boxes. Repeating the treatment weekly is necessary because the permethrins does not kill the pests eggs. The bonus is there is no egg withdrawal period and if you have a fly problem, it will eliminate the flies too. If you have a TSC they carry the permethrin powder, premixed spray bottles and the concentrate.

Good luck...

I bought the poultry dust from tractor supply. I just wasn’t sure how well it actually worked, I’ve seen mixed reviews about it working. I also have ducks in with the chickens, do I need to dust them? I have not seen any mites on the ducks or even really any but the one on the one chicken so I know i need to dust the chickens vents, do i need to dust everywhere but They're faces?

I originally sprayed all of the birds while they were roosting. Later in the next application I dusted them and also put the dust in their nest boxes. If you haven't seen any mites on other birds either they don't have them yet or they are the type that may come out at night and feed on the birds. I use a headlamp so I have both of my hands free and check the birds after they go to roost. Maybe just putting some dust in their nest boxes will help.
