Mites

Hi, Im new to the forum and really need some help. I have 5 chickens in my garden and over the last few weeks we have been finding a little mite on myself and husband in the house mainly in the evening its been driving me mad I have cleaned the house top to bottom and cant find where they are coming from. I have even had a pest control man out this week but he has had to send one off for inspection. They are tiny about 1mm in length and a light brown colour. Today I have been to feed the chickens and noticed what looks like the same thing in the coop. Could my chickens have mites? if so what is the best way to get rid of them? can they live in my house and if so how do I get rid of them? I have never have anything like this bofore and we have had pets for years. Thank you in advance.

chickens can have mites....

You may also want to do a google search to see pictures (use the image option) and match to the mites you are seeing. You could also type mites in at the top of the page here in BYC forum and you will get threads from the forum discussing mites.
