Mixed Ages

I haven't had much trouble with mixing ages of chicks but how much of an age difference do you think there can be between chicks?

The only mixing I have ever done was with 4 to 5 week old silkies and newly hatched chicks.
I was told by someone here that the silkies were the only ones to try that with.

I guess it would all depend on the sizes.
