I have three white leghorns, due to start laying in about 3 weeks. The rest of the flock are EEs and Barred Rocks. I am wondering what feed to use once the leghorns start laying? Should I switch the entire flock to layer feed, or keep them all on grower/something else until the rest start laying? Thanks!

You can go either way as long as their around 16 weeks or so as you don't want to give layer to chicks younger than about 16 weeks because of the calcium in the layer. what I do is just keep everyone on the grower till they all start to lay and just put a little oyster shell out for the girls that need it.Most of the time I have a flock of mixed age so they all get grower of 18% protein and they do just fine the extra protein won't hurt the older girls and is good for the younger ones that are still growing, the extra protein also helps when their molting to grow feathers back..
