I just acquired several hens of mixed breeds. Mutts. They've been here 24 hours and I am in love with them already, so I don't really care what they are. But I am curious. They are feisty girls and today one of them left me a green egg. Any one got any thought or ideas on my new girls?
This first one is my favorite right now. She is the feistiest one and I am calling her Irish. I am guessing she is part rir?
This is the one my daughter has taken a shine to. She's calling this hen "Suzy". Suzy is a bit camera shy & wouldn't look at the camera. Irish wanted to kill the camera.
The one in front is Janet Leigh because she screams like a psyco is after her. There is another behind her-smaller-who is the same color as she is. The two others in this pic look like Suzy only not as...plump.
When I got these ladies, I really only wanted the first two. The other four were so pitiful looking that I could not leave without them. They are terrified of me and our roosters. They wouldn't come out of the coop this morning. My daughter and I had to go out and physically remove them to get them to come out long enough to eat & get some water. We showered those poor birds with every treat we had on hand. My roosters saw them coming and it was almost as if I heard them all go "Shwiiiiiing!" They are separated for now, but the boys are randy! My silkies just looked them over and rolled their eyes as if to say, "great. more birds."
Anyway, if any one has some ideas on what all they might be mixed up with, that'd be great. I don't care much, just curious.
