mixing 2 different aged chicks

I have 7 week old EE chicks. and today a friend gave me 12 RIR chicks that are a little over 3 weeks old. How old do you think they should be before I can safely add them to my 7 week olds?

I mixed different ages last fall, over a period of 3 weeks. No problem. Because they were my first chickens, I held them all inside until the youngest were feathered out, so I could put them all outside together at the same time.

I had 12 wk old chicks, 10 wks old chicks and some 8 week old chicks in my small flock.
