Hi,
I have 22 Mille Fleur hens and 3 Mille Fleur roosters. Have had them for a number of years and been successful with the breed. Now, I would like to have some White Silkies also but don't know if they will interbreed if they are all using the same chicken house and are free roaming everyday. Do chickens only breed with their own kind? Probably a dumb question but I really would like to know before I buy the Silkies. I collect the eggs everyday as I don't want any more babies but there is always the chance that someone is laying and I don't find the nest. I wouldn't want babies that were a cross breed. Thank you for answering this silly question and I would welcome any suggestions.

Everyone breeds with everyone. LOL

My little Jap roo tries to mate my Australorp, my silkies, my Amercauna's and so on. That's how we get new breeds, by crossing species.

If you want purebreds you have to keep them separate when you want chicks.
