My first batch of chicks are due to hatch on the 22nd they are a local school project, all the info i have right now is that they still expect 10 to hatch and they are white leghorns, now here is the question, the local feed store will be getting some in on the same day. is it okay to mix them with ones i buy at the feed store, if so should i look for a certain breed to mix well with the leghorns, i would like a little color when it comes to the eggs.. and we are also being asked by the school if we would be interested in taking the chicks next year, is this a good idea since we do not know what we would be getting. but they are also free so i am thinking worth the chance and a free supply of chicks every spring.

i have never had a problem mixing different breeds....and i've had a lot of them! chicks LOVE other chicks! not to say you wont get a little chick that likes to peck toes once in awhile though! lol!
