Mixing game birds and chickens

I don't have either yet, but I've heard conflicting information so far, and am looking for more conflicting info. I'd prefer quail with my chickens, and I realize that I'd have to separate them as chicks. And from reading ag extension stuff, it seems like quail disease is the big problem with mixing flocks. However, by my way of thinking, which may be erroneous, since they can both get it, as long as neither of them have it, wouldn't they be alright?
What other problems?
Also, do quail ever tame down enough that you can let them out in the yard? Specifically talking about Bobwhites.

I would think you would have a heck of atime just keeping the bobs in while you come and go they are flighty lil buggers and as far as leeting thm in the yard, i personally would think with out pinioning them they will be gone in seconds and if you do pinion them they wont be able to get away from predators in the yard.. My advice would be dont do it ..
