Mixing New Chicks With Year Old Hens

I brought home 25 new chicks. So i have them pinned in the coop itself. Because of cats, I keep the run closed and let my hens free range during the day. They of course are laying in places I cannot find. Is this okay and is there anything I can add to help them from getting so hot during the day?

hum, I would think that the hens would kill the baby chicks if they have to sleep in the same area together.

I have only put them together after the babies were fully feathered.
