Is it possible to mix pheasants in the same aviaries
I am getting (i hope ) red golden, yellow golden and silver.
Also i will be putting in some quail.
It will be in an area 10 x 20 mtrs and 2 mtr high

You can put red golden and yellow golden in the same pen but they will interbreed, and I have both colors in with quail and they do fine. I dont know about mix with silver they tend to be aggressive.

You can mix all males in an aviary as long as there are no hens around. Not all silvers are aggressive. They can be put in a mixed male aviary, sometimes with no problems sometimes with problems. You would have to find out which you have.
In N.H.,Tony.

I agree with Tony. I had silvers and reds mixed with no problems. Reds and yellows, males will fight each other to death as they are the same subspecies, and will interbreed. Would ,in a perfect world ,be best if all were in their own pens.

Interesting you posted this, I have a different question about breeding or crossing tho... Do any of you have experience with (or heard of) Red Hurst? They are a cross between red gold X Lady Am's

I'd be interested in finding more info if anyone can lead me in the right direction.

Aubrey, PM me...cant get my email back up to respond to Phoenix ordeal. Thanks, have a good one.

Peace,
Misty

I've seen them before, were a few post and pics on here last year about them, but I can remember where they were.
They are funky looking, dont know if they would be fertile or not, never tried them?

This is what I've heard from a breeder of both red goldens and lady amhersts. A cross between a Red Golden Rooster and a Lady Amherst Hen is called a Splash, they are becoming more and more popular. Hopefully this spring I will have pictures to share of what I come up with this.

Mixing Amherst and goldens is a bad idea you are taking stock and ruining it. If you want a hybird so bad breed them but please do not sell them. You might sell them for what they are and the person who bought them might try to sell them as pure, or their offspring as pure, leading to bad blood lines to anyone else down the road. Then a splash is a mix between different goldens not golden x Amherst.
