Well the chicks are 5 or 6 weeks now,..just three days ago Mommy was sitting on her chicks with them ridiculously hanging out from under her. Then the day came she decided not to sleep with them and went back to the hen house. The next day the chicks were in the corral and Mommy dearest was free ranging outside the corrall, the chicks following her longingly. Well next thing you know Mommy dearest has turned into henable lector,..none of the other hens are bothering the chicks, nope not even Gladys the rooster, but Mommy Dearest has decided these babies she was loving two days earlier, she hates with a passion. We have to chase her away from them now or sh will hurt them. We moved the chicks last night out of the brooder and into the hen house,..which went fine they are integrating well,...bar the fact that Mommy dearest wants to take a chunk out of them every time she sees them. What gives? is this normal behavior?
