I recently build my new coop on a trailer, thinking that when I have to leave town or go on vacation I can just tow it over to my friend's house or take it with me. Do you think highway travel would hurt my chickens?if I free range them at a new spot would they come back to roost?
I was thinking I could bring them to work with me and let them out in the grass during the day

That's the coolest idea I've heard in a long time. If they're used to the coop, have been coming home to it to roost for a while now, I'd think there is no question they'd come back to it to lay and roost. For rolling down the hiway, I'd think they'd be happy in the most interior box like part of it. And if you don't have that then just put a big box inside with them in it for the ride. Just so they don't deal with heavy wind. Man, I hope you post about your travels, this is SO interesting!! Thanks for sharing.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
I would not move it off my property for several reasons:
Chickens HATE change. Period.
If you move them off your property to another, they will be exposed to different strains of pathogens like coccidia that their immune systems have not built up immunity to and this could cause them to get sick.
If one were to escape or you let them free range, good luck getting them back when you need to if at all.

Soo I'll give you some background, I live in Fairbanks, Alaska so I also need to pull it inside the garage when temps drop below -40. I just have 3 pet birds in the small micro coop. I have taken them on camping trips before this is just my prototype as I will be rebuilding it later
