Located in North Mississippi. We will have a drop in overnight temps to 8 degrees. Attached is my current mobile coop setup with an open floor.
My plan is the close up the bottom with plastic sheeting and put in pine shavings, lower the roosting bars by just a bit and line the coop with some plastic sheeting to get rid of some drafts I have. The ventilation I have now (unmodified)is on both top corners front and side. How can I better the ventilation?? Right now I think it is too much for the drop in temp.
I have 2 of these coop. 1 has 5 fully grown hens and 1 rooster. The other house 6 three month old chickens and 1 fully grown hen. It's not my plan the house them together right now but if I absolutely should for warmth I will for the night.
I also have a tarp that I can put over both coops reduce the incoming wind.
I was going to move the coops close to the house where my wood fence butts up as well for some extra wind protection..
Input please on how I can do this better..
