I purchased a large bag of Purina chicken crumble feed from Tractor Supply for my sweet girls and I just noticed after feeding them almost 3/4 of the bag there’s clumps of molded food at the bottom. I keep their food in a climate controlled area. They haven’t been laying many eggs for almost three weeks. My little Chloe will sometimes lay two eggs in one day. One of my chickens has lost weight. I’m going to Tractor Supply now, but I would like suggestions on what to do. Not just about the store, but about mold exposure. Should I give Corid? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you

I'm not sure what Corid would do to help with mold since it's an antiparasitic. If the mold was causing illness then I would think you would want some type of antifungal treatment.

I would probably start with probiotics JIC.

Did you notice mold on the food you gave them? If it was contained to the bottom of the bag then maybe not too many spores in the feed they ate. I know my chickens find the worst things in the yard and try to eat them. So far no issues so maybe chickens are not as sensitive to molds etc as they are in the environment.

Agree! No Corid helps this. Probiotics will help get bad bacteria out of their systems. If they start acting sickly, sneezing, wheezing, raspy breathing, then they'll need antibiotics as they could develop pneumonia. Corid is NOT an antibiotic.

Otherwise, I wouldn't think they'd even eat that, but they do eat some nasty stuff on their own from free-ranging, so perhaps it just won't bother them.
