Do you mean you are surprised the plants are alive? Are you saying that because chickens scratch the roots out? I learned a technique that works great. (1)sprout germinated seeds (2)scatter (3)protect for awhile. . Chickens eat some of those germinated seeds- but some take hold & grow ...I'm amazed that anything is still alive in a chicken run.

I am purposefully keeping their run “alive” to give them a good life.
