MOLD

I don't intend to be rude but: Some fungi, including molds, are edible and delicious. Many fungi are used in fermentation processes (cheeses, soy sauce, etc). Many fungi and molds are HIGHLY TOXIC, as in deadly. Unless you have a very powerful microscope, and the ability to identify the spores of the fungi you plan to feed your chickens - don't do it. Re-read my prior post. Penicillin is useful - the mold it comes from is dangerous. Furthermore, another grain-feeding mold, ergot (look up "ergotism"), is deadly.

Another note: try to find your information on .edu, .gov, and .org sites. Just because you read it on the Internet doesn't mean it's true. Try this .gov: http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasci/gen01/gen01955.htm

ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION!!

And fivebigreds, you've been lucky so far.

I agree with robinaggie.

Not all mold is the same. By feeding moldy food, you are taking a risk with your birds.

fivebigreds,
I am glad to hear you have not had any problems with your birds by feeding moldy bread.
