I just had a moldy feed experience, also. It was bagged feed from a large chain store (no point in naming names really). We're in Wisconsin and we had all that flooding about a month ago. There's still standing water in many places around here and for a long time it was just MOIST everywhere, all day. I had it in the back of my mind to watch out for mold since not everyone/everywhere is as particular as they need to be about storage. I'm actually surprised I didn't run into more problems but my other two vendors in this area were able to supply mold free feed. The place I got the bad feed from took it back, but I had similar frustration in that they are cheaper but the drive to get the feed and then return it took away any savings. Wisconsin isn't the only state affected by all the rain and flooding... I don't know where the feed you bought was mixed, stored, etc., but perhaps in a part of the country that had flooding. We were storing around 450 lbs. of bagged custom-mixed feed for our broilers at the time of the rains and I ran a dehumidifier in the area it was stored because you could just feel the moisture in the air.
