Will my compost break down with out worms? We have an infestation of moles this year and I think they all dine from my compost pile. there is not a worm to be found.

What can I do now?

My gut instinct says you don't need worms in compost. Those tumblers they sell sit off the ground and I doubt get a lot of worms in them. For the compost, keep a good mix of green and brown, turn regularly, and wet often.
For the moles, maybe attract snakes? Plant castor beans (i think they repel moles, but are poisonous). Only half joking about those two options. They do sell mole traps if you know where their tunnels are. I've never used one. I have caught moles with spring mouse traps, too.
Of course the moles eat grubs, too, which may mean less Japanese beetles and other nasties. I consider it all a balancing act. Every creature has its role.

Worms make it go faster, but it will happen without them. Eventually.

Hey, tell me where you live and I'll fed ex you a half dozen kittens, they're already being trained on prey by momma................
