We have a bantam Easter Egger Hen (little over 1 year) who's babies are about 3 months, and she has stopped rasing them. All is good everyone is finding pecking order. She has been picked on though which has stopped but she also appears to be molting? Is that normal to molt after brooding or is it because she is about a year old? If anything else its is because of past bullying and I would hate for that to be the case.

I wouldn't worry too much. The molting could be triggered by the hormonal change of preparing to lay, past stress, just her first molting time, or other causes. Make sure she gets plenty of protein to rebuild healthy feathers.

Hope this helps. Best of luck!

She has laid before she had babies so I don't think its hormonal changes, I am pretty sure its her first time molting or at least her first full molt. Thank you! I hope she grows back all her feathers soon, she looks a big raggity XD
