My gold laced Polish is going through her first molt, ahead of the other three in the flock. Lost her tail and primaries but there are pin feathers coming back in, but when I picked her up to check on them today I was startled by how much weight she's lost. She is not racing to get treats like the others. She's also now roosting away from them and I notice that under where she roosts it's very wet but not poopy like under the other girls. I had put the lack of appetite down to molting but between the weight loss and loose stools, I'm worried! Is it worth while just trying to treat with yogurt and extra protein before deworming or go straight for the Panacur?

Will she eat some favorite treat for you? My chickens dive for scrambled egg bits, tuna, meat, or sunflower hearts. During a molt my chickens will be more standoffish, lie around resting, and do not eat as well. So I would continue to observe them. Worming with Valbazen 1/2 ml orally to eaxh chicken is safe during molting. Then repeat that in 10 days. Check her crop early am before she has eaten or drunk anything, to see if it is empty or if she may not be digesting her food. If it is full and hard, or full and squishy, there might be a problem. It is a good time to look her over for lice or mites, and if droppings look different, post a picture.
