Molting Birds - Feather Fixer or Flock Raiser Feed?

Will it shock their system to suddenly change food? I know with dogs you gradually switch over, but maybe birds are more resilient?

I mix half and half for 1st few days. Mine didn't like pellets till I mixed in their old crumbles for awhile

No, as long as ingredients are similar, corn and soy based. I temporarily switch to to a All-Flock crumble 20% when the Non-Medicated Starter-Grower 18% is sold out.
If ingredients aren't similar, like one feed is corn and soy free, then mix 50/50 for a week or 10 days. GC

Their main feed is Purina Layer Pellets. I have them straight Feather Fixer in their run today and they seemed to eat it up!

I've looked at the Feather Fixer compared to Flock Raiser, and the Flock Raiser is slightly higher in Protein, low in calcium, and less expensive per pound as fed. Both diets are available fresh where I shop, and I've used Flock Raiser, by choice, with separate oyster shell, for many years.
A non-medicated starter/grower diet would work well too, with that separate oyster shell.
Feeding birds who aren't actively laying eggs the high calcium layer diet isn't best, and any bird will grow feathers faster, and generally do better on 18% to 20% protein.
Adding other sources of protein will generally cost more than feeding a balanced ration.
Choose a feed that's fresh, by mill date, where you shop.
