Molting female and males

Is this common or has this happen to you?

I bought 5 coturnix and they were clearly femaleswith speckled chest, a week later they started to molt and only 2 out of the five had the speckled and the other 3 showed a brown uniform color on the chest which look like males!


None started to crow and they haven't layed any egg and are probably 7 weeks old.

I raised mine from eggs and after 7 weeks they started molting it took like 2 1/2 weeks and 3 weeks later got my first egg.
I think is common.
