I have 6 chickens, 3 are 6 months old and 3 are 9 months old. Two of the 9-moth olds seem to be molting or losing feathers just on their heads... is that likely? It looks like the feather shafts are still there but they’re spiky and white. Hopefully these pictures will come through ok, they don’t hold still very long! One is a Rhode Island Red and one is a Golden Laced Wyandotte, the GLW started first, probably about two weeks ago then the RIR about a week later. My other 4 still have all their head feathers. They eat outing flock raiser and kitchen scraps along with free ranging at least half the day. Nothing in their environment has changed recently and there don’t seem to be any pecking order issues when I’ve observed them recently.
