Molting Question

Hens won't lay during a molt, correct?

I have two hens in a pen and one was molting while I was collecting eggs to put under a broody hen. Chances are the non-molting hen will be the mom, right? I'm hoping so. The eggs are suppose to hatch Monday, and I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for these babies!!

Hens can lay during molt. The softer the molt the more likely they will lay, Still they lay much, much better when not molting. Chances are the one not molting donated the eggs.

I should be able to tell the mom by what color they hatch.. can't wait.
