molting shock!

My cayugas are molting, too.

It does look like an exploding duck went off in their night pen. But without those feathers I wouldn't have found the only space in the night pen that is out of view of the camera.

Any one else's ducks get downy feather bits stuck in their nares? One of my hens in particular always ends up with a few downy bits poking out of her nares after grooming. I don't see how she stands it.

All the time! It seems to bother me and hubby more than it bothers them. Sometimes they'll swish around in the water to get the feathers off, and sometimes they paw at them and get them off that way. They mostly walk around like they don't even notice, but it makes me crazy. If it goes on long enough, I always get hubby to help me catch the duck so I can clean its bill off. I'm not advising that needs to be done. I just can't stand it myself and find myself continually rubbing my nose from some kind of sympathetic reaction or something.
