We have two chickens that look like they are molting, one worse than the other, but I've never heard of a chicken molting in the spring. They are both growing new feathers, but one is still missing a lot. They seem healthy and continue to lay eggs, but I'm worried I might be missing something and there could be something wrong. I tried to check there skin for anything this evening, but didn't find anything. Thoughts?

Are you certain that flock mates are not feather plucking/eating ?
I don't think so, the one that is the worst is the bully... Also, our polish, who is in a separate coop lost the feathers on top of her head, but they are now growing back and I know hers were plucked by her one roommate as the "roommate" is a severe scissor beak who can't grasp anything, lol.

I have two hens that are dropping feathers like they are molting. Two different breeds. One is 18 months old and the other is 2 yrs old. I know the others are not picking feathers.
