This is my Sicilian buttercup. Hatched mid April so just about 8 mo old. I noticed the other day there were missing feathers on her neck and a few on her head. Today it is worse. Doesn't seem any where else is molting though. I have a roo but he is gentle with the ladies. Is this molting or being picked on?? Or something else?

I had my older ones molt this year but not just head and neck

Molting yes...She is stunning! Do you have other photos of her? I would like to see what she fully looks like!
Let me find some older pics. I have 2 buttercups that look the same, one is just slightly bigger than the other. One already went broody and OMG she was a nasty nasty broody!

Similar thing here. I had one bird stop laying end of October, then begin molting. She looked okay other than pale comb. She’s not back to laying yet.

The other two have stopped laying mid December and are showing signs of molting now. Pin feathers on head and this lady had some new growth on her chest.

They are all buff orpingtons and are about

thank you for this thread. I started freaking out today when I saw my Scillian Buttercup because she is looking the same. I am a first time chicken owner and my buttercup is the only one who looks like this so I didn't know if it was molt or she was getting picked on.
