I have been raising chicks for 6 summers now, and in my experience, no chicks do not molt...thats not to say they dont ever, but I dont think that is the norm...their feathers do change from the fluffy butts to their chicken feathers...but that I would not consider a molt
Hens will usually go thru a molt when they are older...mine have always seemed to start at about 1.5 to 2 years of age, they can get pretty bald, and pretty ugly, and it seems to take forever, but they get thru it...
I noticed alot of feathers in the pen when mine were between six and twelve weeks old. Just part of the process of getting adults feathers I think and not an actual molt.
