Hello, I am a stay at home mother of 7yo triplets. We have started our chicken journey about 4 weeks ago. I look forward to learning from all of you.

Welcome to BYC. Triplets! Good bless you - well I guess he already has.

Welcome to BYC!

I guess you have been blessed, three times over, lol. What do the kids think of the chicks? Did they name them?

If you have any questions, feel free to ask, there are a lot of helpful, friendly people here.

Have fun!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. Our children and granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loved our chickens and made lap pets of the calmer and more gentle breeds. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock (and your triplets).)

We have named them. Black seed, flower, little chick, and Mrs and Mrs Meeps. I was wondering if anyone has experience with a parrot like beak. One of the Meeps has/had an extra long upper beak with a large bump underneath the bottom beak. She is a lot smaller than the others. I trimmed it down a couple of days ago and it seems she is struggling to get food down. She just eats differently than the others. Could the lower bump be from bumping her self trying to get food? I am keeping an eye on her to see if she starts to gain in the next few days. She is feathering well.

and chickens, boy you must have your hands full :)

RE: Meeps - I would suggest posting a pic of the beak issue under emergencies for input and advice on the problem. Being smaller than the others suggest she has not been able to eat well enough. Many folks have posted how to deal with those special chickens, and likely someone can offer you specific advice on how to manage her.

Wishing you well with your great adventures, and hope your beak trimming is the answer.

Welcome to Backyard chickens. My neighbors had triplet girls years ago. He just drove them off to school (three different colleges) and his older son to a fourth one. He seems to be enjoying the temporarily empty nest.
