Momma and new babies!

Momma is an Australorp(sp)/mix. She hatched these out just about a week ago.

She is a great momma...teaching them all sorts of new things..

Have they started sprouting little tails yet? Usually girls feather before the boys.

I havent really noticed tails yet....momma doesnt let me get too close. Good thing I have a good zoom on the camera! LOL She lowers her head, fluffs her hackles, and throws her wings out, and comes towards me! MEANY!! LOL

What cute little chicks. I love to watch mamas with their chicks. Make you really understand the term "mother hen"

That is too funny about her protecting her babies! On one hand it's nice to see her so protective, but on the other you wish she would trust you...

We had another hatch in the bator this morning....going to try to give it to her tomorrow...after its good and dry.

Very cute! I loved having my Sunny raise Lexie's babies and I hope in the spring, I have at least one more broody. It's an amazing thing to watch when you have a good mama hen!
