Momma mean to her chick

Frankie is now a little over 5 weeks old now and I noticed tonight that Momma is not letting him (I think it's a he) sleep under her. He was off in a corner on the oppisite end of the house and when I tried to put him next to her she pecked at him. I knew that at some point she would get tired of him and but I didnt expect her to be mean to him. I feel bad for the poor guy. Will he be okay sleeping by himself? my three hens all cuddle together,

It's not a matter of the mama getting tired of him or of being mean. It's normal for the mama to let her chicks know when it's time for them to be on their own. 5 weeks is a usual age for this to happen. If he grew up outdoors he will be fine. I'd probably add a little hay or whatever to the corner he chooses, so he can snuggle into it.
