(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I'm new to chickens. About 3 1/2 months ago my daughter and grandson decided that I needed chickens.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? They brought me 10 little baby chicks. However we had a little incident with our dog during the coop building process
and now I have 8.
(3) What breeds do you have? Sussex, Rhode Island Red, Delaware, Araucana, and 2 unkowns. All beautiful!!
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? I googled "can a chicken crow?" All of my chickens are supposedly hens... but one started crowing today! Had a great time designing and building the coop and run. Now just trying to become familiar with the art of chicken-keeping. I go out every morning in hopes of finding the first egg!!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? flower gardening, rock collecting, traveling to far away places.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My husband and I live on a small farm by a river in beautiful Montana. We have 5 grown children and 5 grandchildren who love to come play on the farm. I've been an assistant teacher for 16 1/2 years, and currently work for United Airlines. Love to travel!!
