About 4wks old. Got this chick from a mixed assortment from the local country store. They’ve got feathered feet/legs, single comb, mostly barred feathers. Quiet heavy bodied. I know they are a little young but was hoping to get an idea of what they might be? Such a pretty color

Looking for an update on this chick now that they’re a little over 6 weeks. I know everyone said cockerel and they had a big comb but I had a black cochin pullet who got a big red comb real early then it stopped growing just like this ones comb has. Feathers are rounded and I’m not seeing any early oily sheen or saddle feathers starting like the black cochin cockerel from this trio. Maybe I’m just seeing what I want with this cutie :p

Thoughts??

I think the main one (brownish) is a pullet. the black and white on the side seems like a cockerel. I can't really see the coffee colored one though. Also, when they are old enough, look at the neck feathers. I have a 6 week old EE cockerel and his neck feathers are tipped with a pale brownish orange. If they are pullets they won't have them. I noticed the tips when he was a in between four weeks and five weeks, but closer to five weeks. Oh yeah, and sorry I'm late. Maybe this could be for future reference. :)

I'm still thinking little cockerel. :) However, be watching for black plumage coming in on the chest and shoulder areas. This will be the determining factor. :D

What age should I expect to see that? They currently have some black feathers scattered about but they all have brown lacing; wasn’t sure if it’s a color inconsistency due to being hatchery quality.
