My Black Australorp is acting odd. First, she seemed to be broody, I was sure she was. She would sit on her nest and growl at me when I came around. She wouldn't roost, either. This didn't happen for long. She seemed to go in and out of it and finally was in with both feet.
I tried to break her from it by putting her in a cage in the run for a couple of days but, honestly, I felt bad for her and let her out again. I just couldn't do it. I'm a push over.
That was yesterday. When I let her out she ran around the yard acting kind of nutty - panicky. She seemed to be looking for a dark place to hide but also to have forgotten the coop existed. I actually picked her up and put her in the coop. Pushover, remember? She was very satisfied to be there and messed around with her nest. Growled and fluffed up when I peeked in.
Today she bounced out of the coop like nothing was going on. Drama over. She stayed out of the coop all day.
Then tonight when I went out to close the coop, she wasn't in it. I had to look all over and found her on the cement stairs leading to the basement. She didn't move at all when I walked over and picked her up.
I put her in the door of the coop and she just sat there. I had a bright flashlight so it wasn't really super dark out. I finally picked her up and put her on her nest. She wasn't growl-ly.
She didn't lay today. I don't know. Maybe I'm over-reacting. I worry that she's suddenly egg bound or has some other issue.
She's a little bi-polar, no?

Thanks! She seems to have settled down now and can focus on being a bully to the other chickens. I guess I just like to worry.
