Will red sand work? Or just plain dirt from the yard work as grit? And how old do they have to be to have chicken grass?

First of all...im not sure what you mean by " chicken grass" Never heard of it myself. Mine just eat the grass from the yard. Im not so sure about the "red sand" either. If your chickies are out in the lawn...they will get the gravels they need from the yard. You can use parakeet grit in a small dish as well.
