More pests after eggs?

A neighbor keeps telling me that i need to be much more careful after my girls start laying eggs...(and one has)...because he believes there must be a scent that predators pick up. He said after his started laying many more critters started coming around.

He has me worried. My coop is pretty safe but there has been mountain lion sightings around my area...so i worry.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but I imagine that eggs have a smell themselves so it could be possible.

Maybe just make sure you collect often and don't leave them out.

Maybe it is just more of an option?? Now they can have chicken and eggs instead of just chicken? Good luck keeping them safe!
