Now I know this topic has been discussed at least two time, so before anybody tells me to search it out, I already did. My question is regarding the guppies and gold fish, becuase I have a 50gallon rain barrel that provides water to my chickens through a tube and out those little waterers that they peck at. What about the fish poop in the water? Thats my only question.

Thanks Dan

I would not let them drink dirty water. They can contract worms from any kind of water that is not clean. Especially if it has feces in it. Fish can harbor parasites as well.

Give the chickens and any other animals Clean Fresh water daily.

If you move the fish to a new tub and dump, rinse and refill the tank and cover it so nothing can fall in this would be ok if your roof is clean and not frequented by pigeons or other birds that would leave lots of poop, and long as there aren't any debris from surrounding trees to wash off the roof and into the barrel. The barrel can be a breeding ground for mosquitoes but the larva wont harm the birds.
