I have the hinged latches on my chicken doors and my nesting boxes...I got to wondering if a coon could manage a normal brass snap, so I picked up three of these today, I feel a little better about it now...(the snap I am talking about is the top right one, B3002...the round barrel spins to allow the snap to open. The barrel is spring loaded, keeping tension to keeping it closed)

I'm a little obsessive about fasteners, myself. I use the spring loaded ones, but at night and whenever we're out of the house, I add a small keyed padlock. This was after a friend of ours told us about how he came home one day and found his chickens missing. Since the door to his coop was open and there was no sign of forced entry, he assumes someone just stole his chickens!

If anyone wants to steal ours, they're going to need to bring wire cutters at least!

Lol, my wifes lab/pit cross beds down out by my hounds, which is also by the chickens, no one is gonna come sneaking in, and leave happy, lol...
