In the Brooder
Has anyone else had a white leghorn decide she wants to be a mother? In my experience, they've never shown any interest in babies but recently I brought home a variety of 8 chicks and two ducklings, and now that they've gotten old enough to go out into the coop, they have a new mama. I thought if any of my chickens took to them, it would be my partridge silkie, but instead, my last leghorn (that is only 16 weeks herself) is out there keeping them close to the coop, teaching them to dust bathe, and tucking them in her wings when one gets chilly. It's very cute and very surprising
