What happened to Mother Nature? Who decided that she was no longer capable of doing her job and layed her off?

I am just as guilty about freaking out at hatch time. I feel paniced to make sure everything is perfect!

I don't look foward to that egg that just didn't make it or the one that just doesn't seem to be coming out fast enough.

Maybe it's time to take a breather and remember...

I have grown laying hens and not one of them have a watch or control over the weather...and yet if the instinct to set on their own eggs hadn't been bred out of them I would imagin they would be fine mothers.

I would also guess that not one of them would roll there eggs at the same time every day or care that today they rolled 5 times instead of 3. (Not to mention all the times they were bumped and stepped on.)

Not one of them would whip out a spray bottle and give their eggs a nice sprits because things were feeling a tad dry.

The temp. is constantly changing and yet they have no temp. knob to adjust.

The wind continues to blow at it's lesure and it may just monsune for an hour or so.

Remember the egg that hatched and all the odds were against it...

A lot of the time, we end up being too careful, if that's even possible. Sometimes we do too much, and end up only messing up our chances of a successful hatch even more. Lots of times, hens hatch their eggs against all odds... Even when their eggs have been cooled or rained on or stepped on. We need to give eggs more credit.
