Hi, I am a new member and have looked at this site lots of times for information and help. I just joined today and hope to learn more about BackYard Chickens and may in some small way have information to give. We started with our small group of 7 Buffs and unfortunately lost one to a raccoon and one that her reproductive organs drooped and she had to be put out of her misery. So I am now Mother of 5. We bought these just for laying hens not to reproduce and thought our grandchildren would enjoy them too. We didn"t realize that we would need to spend over $800.00 to build a coup and provide fencing. We are unable to allow them to free range because of the amount of Red Tail Hawks and Barn Owls plus other predator's so we only allow them out when we can keep a close eye on them..and most times it takes two sets of eyes. So, I am really excited about being a small part of your group and know I will glean lots of information and help from other members. Nice to meet you all and look forward to lots of talks.
