Just bought my daughter 4 chickens (pullets) because she desperately wants to be a farmer. 3 of them are doing super! The one that I named is not doing as well

It's got "clogged butt" or whatever it is called. I will soon be posting to the Sick Chick area...

I came across this and thought "Wow, there's a lot of help out here for people like me." I've never had ANY pets, let alone something I know nothing about. I'm a city gal, who is now helping raise chickens.

Let the adventure begin!!!

Pasty Butt can easily be fixed by soaking the bum or a rag in warm water and gently rubbing the poo off. It's a little gross, but if you don't do it, the chick could die.

Oh another hand,

What kind of chicks did you get?

I have been wiping my little chicken's heiny every day (3 days Since it started caking). I got a call on lunch break, and received news that Noodle didn't make it. My daughter is "putting him in the hole with Morgan" (our dog we put down last summer).

RIP: Chicken Noodle - You were a good chick. Sorry I couldn't help you sooner..... *sigh*

I'm sorry about Chicken Noodle. Perhaps she had some internal malfunctions too that are impossible to notice. Sometimes chicks / pullets die for seemingly no reason at all. I'm glad you have three more happy ones. Say hi to your wonderful daughter for us!
