Thank you so much! I had no idea that was possible!Mottling carriers can look mottled as chicks, in fact, they can express mottling as adults but will only have a few mottles as opposed to the full mottled expression.
I did have one chick from my “mottled project” shipped eggs, that had more mottling as a chick but she lost almost all of it as an adult, but kept a few white feathers here and there. She also retained white skin, so I wasn’t actually sure if she was mottled or just a carrier. Unfortunately she met an untimely end thanks to the neighbor’s awful dog. But it sounds like she was a carrier as well.
It will be helpful for me to know this if I ever breed two carriers together.
