Mottled x Black = ???

If I have a mottled Cochin roo over a black Cochin hen, what color will the babies be?

I think the first generation is black unless the black hen carries a mottled gene. Second generation should be 50/50.

Now..I am NOT a genetics person...just repeating what I've been told, Kelly.

Folks sometimes cross on blacks because they tend to be the typeist, then back to the mottled for the coloring.
