I have 2 Blue Star, 3 Bovan and 3 Sex Link hens. All three breeds lay slightly different colored eggs, so I can usually tell at a glance who's been busy and who hasn't.
The 3 Sex Link hens (16 week old pullets in Oct 2010) seem to be moulting NOW. I've been thru this with the Blue Stars & Bovans, so I know what moult looks like. The Sex Link are shedding little tufts of feathers and sounding like they all have stuffy noses just like the older girls did.
I thought moult was a *seasonal* event. Is it actually more age related?
