Mouth breathing

While holding my rooster last night, I noticed that he was doing a little mouth breathing. He was snuggled in my arms, eyes closed, just seeming to be enjoying the cuddle time. Is this normal? He is otherwise acting fine, just curious as I have never had chickens before. He is a Blue Old English Bantam cockerel

Chickens breath through their mouth when they are too warm, stressed, or when there is a respiratory problem. From your description you probably have nothing to worry about; just keep an eye on him.
