I know this isn't a whose idea but I'm taking a broody hen and her 4 eggs home from my parents house in a few days. It's a 5 hour trip during which I will be picking up a few other chickens at various stops. I was going to put her and the nest in a pet taxi and cover with a blanket during the trip, any other suggestions to make this as easy as possible?

Sounds like you have a good plan.

Can you possibly wait until the chicks hatch though? It doesn't sound like a good idea.

Do you happen to have an incubator ready?

Actually I will have an incubator (running and full of serama eggs) in the back of my SUV as well. It's a crummy deal all around, I had to leave home to come help my mom out after an emergency surgery, and I didn't trust anyone at home with the incubator, now mom wants the hen gone because she isn't up to going out and taking care of her right now. So when I leave so do all the animals, eggs and all!
