Hello all

I would like to move my broody hen. She just went broody today and I am going to replace the non-fertile eggs she is sitting on with some Jersey Giant Eggs from a friend of mines hens that are fertile.
The problem I have had in the past is that when I move them to the isolated area where they can raise the chicks, they stop being broody. They just pace and want to get back to their original nest.
I have tried making the move at night, and they do sit all night, but are up and off as soon as the sun comes up. Any ideas?

It may be too early to move her if she just started sitting today. Wait a few days to be sure she is serious before trying to move her. When you pick her up and she sits there for a bit before noticing she has been moved and the eggs are elsewhere, then you can try moving her at night. Be sure the spot she is going to is quiet and dim until you are sure she will stay. (Works for me anyway.)
