Hi guys. It's me again. I have recently finished my new coop. It is more like a shack than a coop. I have pictures. Either way, my chickens are use to there small coop and giant run. How should I transport them without them going right back to the other coop? The fence I'm moving them into is much bigger than there current one but the wholes are for goats not chickens. So hens can squeeze through. I have a picture of both coops. The small blue is the current one and the wooden shack is the new one. How should I do this? Don't respond tonight I will post pictures tomorrow morning. My wifi connection is bad. Pics won't upclose so I'll post them tomorrow.

I'll post some now so maybe I'll get an alert when you post the photos. I see two issues. One, you want them to sleep in the new coop. Two, you want them to lay in the new coop. Am I missing something or is this it?

IMG_1168.JPG This is the new coop. Posting pic of old coop. Hopefully you will aw how close they are together

Well it won't upload. So basically it's a standard blue movable coop. Nesting boxes on each side sticking out from the main boy. It about 50 feet from the new coop and fence

If they can get out of the pen, they will return to their old coop - chickens hate change. Also if they can get out of the pen, predators can get in.

Move them at night, well after dark, then leave them 'cooped' up for a few days to a week to 'home' them to the new coop.

Will you be making the new fence chicken proof with additional mesh.....or....?

IMG_1173.JPG Can you see the distance? Blue in the left side is the blue coop (current) and the wood on the right side is the new coop

Ok, so. My way of dealing with predators is strange by successful. I have two of our dogs ( daisy and jasper) within 100 yards of the coop. They keep away coyotes, possums, and raccoons. I have killed the only 2 foxes on the land. Re only thing I have to worry about is our neighbors dogs ( my dogs are friend with them so I have seen them litteraly let the others walk in and snatch a chicken then they take off when I.shoot at them), and snakes. Snakes arnt a big deal though. They only steal eggs.
